Alec Nicholas

CONCORD - Alec Nicholas, 88, died peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, surrounded by his family.

He was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Concord to Clara and Louis Nicholas, the second oldest of nine children. He graduated from Concord High School in 1943 and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II from 1943 to 1946 in the South Pacific and was awarded a World War II Victory Medal for his service. Alec married Marcella LaCerte on Sept. 11, 1954, and the couple settled in Concord. He worked for the N.H. State Department of Natural Resources and Economic Development as a design draftsman for over 30 years.

Alec was a devoted father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. An avid health and fitness advocate, he taught multiple generations of his family and any willing friends to play tennis. He loved working with his hands doing gardening, drawing, carpentry and artwork. He enjoyed following current events and sports. Later in life he became a devoted student of the Bible and enjoyed sharing his faith with others. In 2000 he was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Alec is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marcella; children and spouses, Tim and Rocio Nicholas of Nuevo Calif., Donna and Gary Pistotti of Escondido, Calif., Lori and Michel Lacasse of Concord, Lisa and Jonathan Nicholas-Ablard of Ithaca, N.Y., and Martha and Paul Bradley of Epsom; and grandchildren, Shawn and Tiffany Nicholas, Cairo and Argielia Bermudes, Anthony and wife Sherene Pistotti, Ryan and wife Annie Lacasse, Daniel Lacasse, Nicholas Pistotti, Lila and Jane Bradley, and Delia Ablard; and siblings and spouses, Jack and Lucy Nicholas, Connie and Robert Counter and Marylyn and Maurice Dupuis; and sisters Myrna Bucknam and Gloria Sabean.

services: A memorial service will be on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 5 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 199 East Side Drive, Concord, followed by a reception at Crestwood (Jensen's) Community Clubhouse, 14 Crestwood Drive, Concord.
