MANCHESTER - Walter F. McCarthy, 85, of Manchester passed away Feb. 2, 2014 at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Manchester after a period of declining health.

Mr. McCarthy, was born in Manchester on Jan. 1, 1929 and was the son of Charles and Blanche (Beaudet) McCarthy. Walter the youngest of three siblings he attended Manchester High School West. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After returning from World War II, Walter completed his high school education, attended St. Anselm College graduating in 1955, then Brown University in Rhode Island, pursuing a degree in banking.

He was vice president of lending at the Manchester Savings Bank until 1974, when he left to open Walter F. McCarthy Real Estate and Appraisal.

Walter, married the love of his life on June 20, 1953 Dorothy M. (Kuscienka) McCarthy of Manchester. Three sons Kevin McCarthy and his wife Linda of Litchfield, Brian McCarthy of Nashua and Shawn McCarthy and his wife Michelle of Manchester. The grandchildren are Michael, Shane, Patrick, Jonathan, Tyler and Kerri. Also two great-grandchildren Frankie and Eloise. He was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Farwell and two brothers Robert McCarthy and Donald McCarthy.

Family was very important to Walter, and he enjoyed many years of fishing and camping with his boys, in addition to coaching Pop Warner Football and was a member of Memorial High School Booster Club.

He was the first treasurer of the Hundred Club of New Hampshire, eventually serving as executive director, as well as being appointed to the State of New Hampshire Motor Vehicle Industry Board.


services: Memorial remembrance will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. to noon in the Cain & Janosz Funeral Home and Cremation Service 74 Brook St corner of Pine St. The Memorial Service will be conducted at noon in the funeral home.
