MANCHESTER -Thomas H. Greenway Jr., 84, died Feb. 17, 2014, at Elliot Hospital, of COPD.He was born in Palmer, Mass., Aug. 13, 1929, the son of Thomas H. and Marjorie (Hatch) Greenway Sr.Tom was joined in marriage with Barbara Norman on May 31, 1952. He graduated from Tufts and MIT in electrical engineering and was an alumnus of the "First 100" of Sanders Associates. Later, under his logo, "Maverick Engineering," he consulted to telecommunications installations on the Twin Towers, Sears Tower, John Hancock building, Empire State building, and other projects. Tom published white papers for professional engineering journals and was awarded a patent. He retired from Lockheed in 1993. His favorite pastime was fly fishing and snuggling small grandchildren.He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.Tom was a member of the Bahá'í Faith.He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara (Norman); three children, Gordon (Leah) Greenway, Laurel (George) Schneider, Jennifer (Scott) Thornton; six grandchildren, Johanna, Matthew and Graham Greenway, and Bridget, Margaret and John Thornton; a sister, Joyce McCleary; and all the trout he did not catch!! He was preceded in death by a sister, Dr. Carol Woodard.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., Manchester. Interment in the New Hampshire State Veteran's Cemetery in Boscowen will begin at 1 p.m., also on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Liberty House Veterans Homeless Shelter 75 W.
