MANCHESTER - Mary Jane (Bigbee) Foley, 86, of Manchester, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Elliot Hospital, after a short illness. She was the loving wife of Thomas J. Foley for the past 55 years.A daughter of the late Richard and the late Regina (Moynihan) Bigbee, she was born Oct. 17, 1927, in Lawrence, Mass., and moved with her family to Lowell, Mass., after a flood there. She graduated from the Moody School and Lowell High School, class of 1946, where she was Captain of the Girl Officers. She then attended Lowell Commercial College.She made her home in Lowell, Mass., for many years and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and was also a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph Lithuanian Church in Lowell, before residing in Manchester.She worked for Currier Citizen and for Lowell General Hospital before working as a teacher's aide for the City of Lowell, Mass., at the Riley School for more than 10 years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Foley absolutely loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spent as much time as possible with them, and would do anything with and for them. She also enjoyed ceramics, gardening, and also volunteered at Lowell General Hospital.Besides her devoted husband, Thomas, she is survived by her children, Tammy J. Treadwell and Scott Attridge, of Bedford, Patricia J. Primeau and her husband, George, of Derry, and James T. Foley and his wife, Judi, of Dracut, Mass.; her grandchildren, Ashley Gelinas and her husband, Gregg, of New Boston, Amanda Treadwell and Christopher Hess of Allenstown, Ethan Treadwell of Bedford, Brittany Primeau of Derry, Erin Primeau of Derry, Adam Primeau of Derry, Samantha Foley of Dracut Mass., and Sydney Foley of Dracut, Mass.; her great-grandchildren, Meghan Gelinas and Jaxson Hess; her sister, Clair Bigbee of Lowell, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.She was also a sister of the late James Bigbee.


SERVICES: You are invited to her calling hours from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, March 14. On Saturday, her funeral will begin at 9 a.m. at the Mahoney Funeral Home, 187 Nesmith St., Lowell, Mass., 978-452-6361. Her funeral Mass will be offered at Immaculate Conception Church, 144 East Merrimack St., Lowell, Mass., at 10 a.m. Burial in St. Mary cemetery.
