BEDFORD - Henry L. Cote, 84, of Bedford passed away on March 19, 2014, at the Bedford Hills Center, surrounded by his loving family.Henry was born in Hillsborough on Aug. 18, 1929, son of the late Alphonse and Irene (Dube) Cote. He was married to Thelma E. (Steele) Cote on May 12, 1956, in St. Joseph's Cathedral Chapel in Manchester.Henry had a long career as a manufacturing engineer working at Raytheon, Digital and Sanders in Nashua where he was involved in starting an Explorer Post for high school youths interested in engineering. He was also one of the founding members of the N.H. Solar Energy Association.Henry was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War and was a past-commander of VFW Post 8401 in Bedford, as well as a member of the DAV in Manchester. Henry attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and graduated from New Hampshire College. While at home, he had a love for gardening and wood working.Beloved husband of Thelma E. (Steele) Cote for 57 years, loving father of Susan Hilchey and her husband, Peter, of Bedford. Devoted Grampa of Susan and Peter's children, Linnea and Jennifer Hilchey, both of Bedford. Loving father of Paul H. Cote and his companion, Bernadette Duroscher of Boscawen, and dear brother of the late Fred Cote, Maurice Cote and Lorraine Davison. Brother-in-law of Larry and Diane Steele. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.In lieu of flowers, donations in Henry's memory may be made to a veterans .


SERVICES: Calling hours will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St. (corner of Union Street) Manchester on Friday March 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 10 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford on Saturday at noon. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bedford. Relatives and friends kindly invited to attend.
