Freeport, Maine - Dorothy M. Dail, 93, of Freeport, formerly of Hampton Falls, N.H., died Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Heritage House in Freeport.She was born Jan. 28, 1921, in Newburyport, Mass., the daughter of the late Louis B. and Marion F. (Merrill) Janvrin.Dorothy attended junior high at Robinson Female Seminary in Exeter, N.H., graduated high school in 1938 from Northfield Seminary in East Northfield, Mass., and was a 1942 graduate of the University of New Hampshire.She was raised in Hampton Falls, N.H., and had lived there most of her life.After graduating from UNH, Dorothy went to work as a bookkeeper at BT Janvrin & Sons Lumber Company, a business started by her grandfather. She moved into sales and eventually became a partner of Janvrin's Inc. with her brother until the business was sold in 1985.She was a 70-year member of the Hampton Falls (N.H.) Baptist Church, a 50-year member and past matron of Orient Chapter No. 22 Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Rockingham Society for Genealogy. Dorothy also served as financial secretary for the Hampton Falls Baptist Church for 10 years and was treasurer of the Hampton Falls Historical Society for 10 years.She was the wife of the late Rossie M. Dail, who died in 1978, and she was also predeceased by her brother, Donald L. Janvrin.She is survived by her sons: Philip E. Dail of Vassalboro, William Dail and his wife, Nancy, of Waldoboro, and Richard A. Dail and his wife, Susan, of Sandwich, N.H.; her grandsons: Joel Dail and his wife, Meggin, and Ross Dail and his wife, Kristin, all of Epsom, N.H., William Dail of Waldoboro and Patrick Dail of Sandwich, N.H.; her granddaughters: Kelly Dobe and her husband, David, and Karen Dail, all of Epsom, Emily Lash and her husband, Robbie, and Amber Dail, all of Waldoboro. She also leaves her 10 great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Matthew, Zachary, Mallory, Jegg, Earnhardt, Carson Reese, Alexander and Elijah Lash and Kingston Lennon Johnson-Dail.


services: Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, N.H.Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, at the Hampton Falls First Baptist Church, 3 Lincoln Ave., Hampton Falls, NH 03844.Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Hampton Falls.
