NORTH WOODSTOCK - Mavis D. Avery of Courtney Road passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Littleton Regional Hospital in Littleton, following a short illness. She was 84.Born on March 25, 1930, in Thornton, she was the daughter of Stearl and Vera (Sellingham) Hazeltine.She attended school in Thornton and was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School.On May 30, 1948, she married Dalton B. Avery. He died on April 26, 1997, and subsequently Mavis died on the 17th anniversary of his death.In earlier years, she worked at the Thornton Farm Kitchen and then at Indian Head Resort, Cannon Mountain and then Loon Mountain for 12 years.She and her husband, along with their two sons, formed four corporations and presently with her son Dalton owned D Avery & Sons, Inc.Mavis was a longtime member of the Church of the Messiah in North Woodstock and she loved traveling, camping and Arizona winters.Besides her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers Stearl, Malcolm, and Lloyd Hazeltine.She leaves her daughter Sharon Horne and her son Jesse; two sons, Doni Avery and wife Teri and Dalton Avery and wife Sandi, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.


SERVICES: A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the family lot at Woodstock Cemetery. Immediately following, a celebration of her life will be held at the pavilion of Clark's Trading Post in Lincoln.There are no calling hours.Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Messiah, P.O.
