EXETER - Estelle Proulx, 101, of Exeter, died on April 11, 2014, at the Exeter on Hampton Care and Rehabilitation Center. The youngest of nine siblings, she was born Jan. 16, 1913, to Joseph and Virginie Proulx on a farm and brickyard that is now the site of the Brickyard Square Shopping Center in Epping.She was educated by the Sisters of St. Anne at St. Anne's Academy in Marlboro, Mass.Prior to World War II, she operated a gift store in Epping. After the war, she worked as a giftware buyer at Steiger's Department Store in Hartford, Conn. Later, she sold antiques and collectibles in Ossipee. She also was a caregiver for the elderly, including her mother who lived to be 101 years old.Estelle was known for her love of music, and served as the organist for St. Joseph Parish in Epping. Later in life her passion was buying and selling antiques.Estelle was predeceased by her brothers Joseph, John, Ludwin and Gerard, and her sisters Yvonne, Jeannette, Eva, and Marie Laura. She is survived by one nephew, Richard Proulx, and nieces Marguerite Vallone, Nancy Proulx, Virginia Claxton, Jeanne Roy, Mary Fecteau and Rita Cole and numerous great nieces and nephews.
