HOPKINTON - Mary Ann Lewis (Juliano), 97, of Contoocook passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.Mary Ann was reared in Chicago, Ill. She worked for the U.S. Navy in Pearl Harbor, Oahu, during World War II and moved to New Hampshire in 1946 after she wed her late husband, Allen Lewis.A loving mother, Mary Ann raised four boys and was active in a number of charities, most notably the March of Dimes. She was a six-term New Hampshire legislator, where she served as vice chairman of the Natural Resources Committee and championed conversation and women's issues. She was an active member of the Order of Women Legislators and enjoyed working on local and national issues. She was an active member of the Contoocook United Methodist Church and served as the chairman of the trustees, as well as many other committees for many years. Mary Ann was an avid toleware painter and many of her pieces are enjoyed by her friends and neighbors.She is survived by her four sons, Robert of Cheyenne Wyo., Jerry of Lynchburg, Va., Mark of Carlsbad, Calif., and David of Arlington, Mass.; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren..
