HOOKSETT - Donald M. Botsford Sr., 82, a longtime Hooksett resident, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.
Born on Aug. 15, 1931, in Lyndeborough, Don was the son of Arthur and Edna Mae (Sanborn) Botsford. The family moved to Manchester in 1942 and then to Hooksett in 1948. Don and his wife retired to Pittsburg in 1994 with Don returning to Hooksett after his wife's death in 2002.
He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, Don had been employed by Duracrete Block and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 633. He was also a longtime member of the Hooksett Village Fire Department, rising to the rank of deputy chief.
Don was predeceased by his second wife, Pauline (Letendre) Botsford after 38 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his son, Roger Botsford in 1988.
He is survived by a daughter, Catherine Botsford; two sons, Donald Botsford Jr. and Brien Botsford; four grandchildren, Troy, Cody, Kaitlynn, and Star; and nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Thursday, July 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St. in Pembroke. Burial in Head Cemetery, Hooksett, will take place Saturday, July 19, at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the Hooksett Fire-Rescue Department, 15 Legends Drive, Hooksett, 03106.
