MANCHESTER - John R. Doward, 51, of Manchester, died July 18, 2014, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a brief illness.He was born in Lynn, Mass., on March 3, 1963, the son of James and Shirley (Cross) Doward. His family moved to Manchester when John was 10 years old, and he was educated in the Queen City school system and attended West High School. He was employed as a cook at many local restaurants, most recently at Cactus Jack's. John enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and was an avid Red Sox fan. He also loved a good round of golf.He was predeceased by his sister, Janice Doward, on Dec. 30, 2004.Members of his family in addition to his parents include his sister, Joan Doward and her fiancé, Joseph Brand, of Manchester; two brothers, Donald Doward and his wife, Thea, of Tewksbury, Mass., and Roger Doward and his wife, Judy, of North Fort Myers, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
