HUDSON - Thelma J. (Cordeau) (Cote) Bedard, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, 93, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Fairview Nursing Home in Hudson with her family at her side. Born in Lowell, Mass. on Sept. 30, 1920, she was the daughter of Charles and Mathilda (Morrison) Cordeau, and the widow of Edmund Bedard of Goffstown. She was also the widow of Jules E. Cote of Dracut, Mass., who died in 1978.Thelma was a graduate of St. Louis Academy. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Cancer Registry at Lowell General Hospital and St. John's Hospital. She also enjoyed working at the Pelham Colonial Barn, had been a nurse's aide during World War II, and had fond memories of working with her father at his pharmacy during her youth.She loved music, having played piano and organ for many years. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, traveling and mostly spending time with her family and friends.She is survived by her daughter Jeannine Swerchesky and husband Stanley of Hollis, with whom she had previously resided; her stepson Raymond Bedard and his wife Carol of Goffstown; grandsons, Aaron Swerchesky and his wife Kristin of Littleton, Colo., Joel Swerchesky and his wife Laura of Derry; step-granddaughters, Betsy Mathieu and her husband Tom, Holly Davis and her husband Craig, all of Manchester; six great-grandchildren, Mia and Anna Swerchesky, Kate Swerchesky, Brandon Hanson, Rosalie and Fletcher Davis; three brothers-in-law, Normand Cote of California, Paul Bedard and Robert Bedard both of New Hampshire; also many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her brothers Raymond Cordeau and George Cordeau; as well as several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Fairview Nursing Home and at Home Health & Hospice Care for all their loving care and support.


SERVICES: Relatives and friends are invited to Thelma's life celebration from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the McKenna-Ouellette Funeral Home, 327 Hildreth St., Lowell, Mass. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Church, 115 Wheeler Road, Dracut, Mass. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
