MANCHESTER - Lydia (Boggess) Callahan, 51, of Manchester, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 20, 2014, at Elliot Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.Born in Charlestown, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ethel (Aiken) Boggess. Raised and educated in Charlestown, Mass., she married the love of her life, John "Jack" Callahan III, and started a beautiful family.A devoted wife and mother, Lydia's family was paramount in her life. She enjoyed going to Hampton Beach with Jack and her family, basking in the sunshine and cool air. Lydia's cats, Sadie and Salem, and parakeet, Rudy, brought her comfort and companionship. Lydia took great pride in her work caring for the elderly at Mount Carmel Nursing and Rehab, where she had been employed for six years. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.In addition to her devoted husband, with whom she shared nearly 30 years, Lydia is survived by her five children, Christopher Callahan and his wife Fawn of Manchester, John Callahan IV and his fiancée Maryann of Manchester, Amie Callahan of Highgate, Vt., Courtney of Cambridge, Mass., and Andrew (Callahan) Girad of Manchester; her two grandchildren, Alyssa and Nathaniel; her two brothers, Richie and David; her two sisters, Patti and Carol; and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Lydia was predeceased by her sister, Karen.
