Albert Blake Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 31, 2016.
RYE - Albert Willard Blake Jr., 60, of Rye and formerly of Greenland and Manchester, died suddenly on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016.

Mr. Blake was born Aug. 18, 1955, in Ballston Spa, N.Y., son of Albert W. Blake, Sr. of Amherst and the late Geneva (Toof) Adams.

Al was raised and educated in Manchester and was a 1973 graduate of Trinity High School. After high school, he attended St. Anselm College and worked in broadcast management for a number of years. He married his true love, Linda (Gerber) Chestney, in 1984 and shortly after he and Linda married, Al completed his degree in marketing and management from Southern New Hampshire University. He began his career in the financial services industry with Northwest Mutual Financial Network of Manchester before founding his own business, Seacoast Financial Network, LLC, of North Hampton. He was a longtime member of MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table) Top of the Table every year since 1998.

Al was a member of National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) past president NH, a NAIFA national Sales Achievement Award recipient, NAIFA multiple recipient of National Quality Awards, and a recipient of NAIFA-NH Distinguished Financial Advisor Award.

Al was a devoted and loving Christian man, a great listener with a keen sense of humor, and made friends easily. He and Linda were active parishioners at Bethany Covenant Church in Bedford before moving to the Seacoast and becoming just as involved with the Bethany Church in Greenland, where they were involved with marriage mentoring. Al also was a leader in the men's ministry team, and a couple's small group leader.

In recent years, Al and Linda have been members of Evergreen Covenant Church in Sanford, Maine. He loved music and participated in the church's music ministry where he played percussion.

The last few years, he took up playing golf and enjoyed cycling and running.

In addition to his father and Linda, his beloved wife of over 31 years, Al also leaves his son, Jason A. Blake, and his wife, Angela, of Swanzey; his daughter, Amy M. Blake, of Keene; his siblings, Wayne Cunan of Londonderry, Patrick Cunan of Manchester, John Blake and wife Delores, also of Manchester, and Maureen Hamel and husband Michael of Raymond. Al is also survived by his dear and beautiful grandchildren, Connor and Hailey.

I only know Al from professional conferences, but he was a bright light. Our conversations were always enjoyable because of his happiness, useful because of his practicality, and deep because of his intelligence. Eternally RIP, friend--Ellis Y Miller, OH

Dear Linda, We are so sad to hear of Al's passing. He was initially our agent but in his true spirit, it evolved into a genuine friendship. His annual thoughtful birthday cards, including to our boys, were always a welcomed surprise. Bob and I also enjoyed the many cycling rides that Al led with enthusiasm. We will miss Al's spirit and will keep you in our prayers. With deepest sympathies, Bonnie and Bob

Its been many years since I have seen Al(always Billy to me) and still have great memories of how he always was there to protect Maureen in our younger years. We played lots of pool and pinball. To all of the family: Please accept my deepest sympathy at this time of your loss.

Linda and Family,

Al will be truly missed by all who have known him. I had the pleasure of meeting Al close to 20 years ago through the NAIFA NH Seacoast chapter. Al had always been a bright spot in our industry. He was a leader, a giver, and an overall wonderful human being.

Al encouraged myself and dozens of others over the years to get involved with the industry, enhance our profession and get involved in the community. His spirit will live on not only through your family and friends, but also through the hundreds and thousands he has touched either directly or indirectly.

As passionate as Al was about our business, that love did not compare to how much he loved Linda, his children and his grandchildren. Whenever I bumped into Al these last couple of years I would always be sure to ask him about all of you . . . and he would light up like a Christmas tree, telling me about his latest trip to see the grandchildren.

No words will ever be able to replace or soften how you are feeling. But know this: heaven definitely has a new angel and he will be looking down on all of us. When you are thinking about him, close your eyes and he will be there in spirit. Remember the wonderful times you had with Al and smile, and he will be there smiling back in spirit.

I want to extend my deepest sympathy to you all. I also want to thank you all . . . because the love you all had for Al allowed him to share his love and passion with so many others. God Bless you and watch over you in your time of mourning and remembrance of all the wonderful things made Al the man he was.
