MOULTONBOROUGH -- Stephen A. Sutton, 70 , died August 25, 2010, after an accident while doing what he enjoyed and valued, helping a loved one accomplish household tasks.

He was born March 12, 1940, to Susan and Stephen Sutton in Pittsburgh. Upon graduation from Fordham University in 1961, he began his career as an underwriter with the Travelers Insurance Company and ended with General Re, retiring as a vice president in 1999. He also served in the Army National Guard for more than 20 years as an officer and helicopter pilot. His career brought him to many parts of the country, including Chicago, St. Louis, Syracuse, Boston, Manchester, Hartford, Conn., and Stamford, Conn.

He retired at 59. He stayed active and engaged with biking, boating, skiing, snowmobiling, reading and completing many home-renovation projects and most recently enjoyed his Corvette. He especially enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, boating on Lake Winnipesauki and celebrating family events together. His smile spoke of great joy and he mentioned often how happy and blessed he felt.

From heaven he will watch over his 10 dear grandchildren -- Briana, Celena, Martial, Parker, Drake, Tess, Bradley, Tyler, Katy, and Brendan. He also leaves behind dear friends Suzy Rissanen of Ledyard, Conn., and Peter Guastamachio of Glastonbury.
