Robert Sargent Obituary

EXETER - Robert F. Sargent, 88, of Exeter died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.

A lifelong resident, he was born here on Aug. 26, 1923, the son of the late Frank H. and Elizabeth (Brown) Sargent.

Mr. Sargent attended Exeter High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Exeter for many years. Previous to this he worked for the Exeter Brass Works.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Exeter Star in the East Lodge 59 F.&A.M., A member of the American Legion Post 32 of Exeter, and a member of the Exeter Sportsman's Club, where he served as secretary for many years. He was a member of the award-winning Exeter Drum and Bugle Corps.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as spending time at his camp in Pittsburg, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Family members include his wife of 67 years, Doreen (Goodale) Sargent; his children, Wayne Sargent, Richard Sargent, Audrey Poliquin, Valerie Loopley and Beverly Forbes; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sargent was predeceased by his grandson, Joel Poliquin.

services:A celebration of his life will be held at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Burial will be private. For more information, go to www.stockbridgefh.com.
