Cindy DeRego Obituary

Derry - Cindy Lynn (Lampro) DeRego, 42, born Oct. 3, 1970, in Manchester to Phillip and Leona Lampro of Derry, passed away on Oct. 8, 2012, at Brigham and Women's Hospital, after a ferocious battle with cancer.

Cindy graduated from Londonderry High School and spent a year abroad in Regensburg, Germany, as an exchange student. She also graduated with the Class of 1994 from New England College with a degree in international administration. Cindy always aspired to work with the United Nations.

She loved riding her horse, Dallas, reading, making jellies, jams and pickles, baking and gardening. Cindy had a dry sense of humor and loved British comedy and Zatoichi samurai movies. She developed a love for the Boston Red Sox, and, via that, Fisher Cats baseball.

Cindy was beautiful, with a shock of thick red hair and wide pale blue eyes. It is physically impossible for anyone to love their children more than Cindy loved Ian and Margaret. Cindy fought cancer to the bitter end and as the battle dragged on, irrespective of the challenges facing her, girded her loins and moved forward to meet them. She preferred historical fiction and romance books, but sometimes delved into political and biographical works. Cindy always wished to return to Arundel, England, where she and Jeffrey met and fell in love.

She worked as a customer service supervisor for State Line Tack, Comcast and Herrington Catalog Company. Cindy was a member of the Alpha Theta Psi fraternity. She loved cheering at the finish line for her family as they learned to run in local footraces. She had planned, once vanquishing cancer, to join them. Cindy loved music, most recently the Foo Fighters and Adele. She was relentlessly supportive of her husband's writing and extremely proud of his success. She loved to paint her toenails and bake cookies with Margaret and snuggle on the couch with Ian to watch monster movies. Even when at her sickest, Cindy surrounded her family with affection. Cindy was a great friend - a best friend - she was loved by many, and will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Jeffrey; their children, Ian and Margaret DeRego; her mother and father; and siblings Donna Lambert, Matthew Webb, Jonathan Webb, Lisa Mae Rowell, Timothy Lampro; and a crowd of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brother Amon Webb.

Cindy was one of the most amazing women I have ever met. As kids we were close, and she became the most amazing person. The world truly lost one of it's best. Rest in peace Cousin, I love you!

I met Cindy because of her horse, Dallas. She was without a doubt one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever had the pleasure to get to know. For over four years, every six weeks we spent about 30 minutes together while I worked with Dallas. Cindy's spirit and shining personality made it seem like I had known her so much longer. Cindy, I miss you already!

I had the opportunity to meet Cindy while we are going to college @ New England College. What I remember the most about Cindy was her kind heart and how down to earth she was. We rode horses together for a short time...she knew so much about horses. We reconnected just a few months ago over tea and cupcakes in her hospital room in Boston...we picked up things right where we had left off all the years before. how we laughed over so many things.him. I was so proud of her courage. She gave so much to all of us and her family. My sincerest condolences go to Jeff, Meg, Ian and Cindy's parents.

I am truly honored to have had the pleasure of spending some time with Cindy while she was with us. She was a super friendly, funny, and a very brave woman. I recall the way Jeff & Cindy interacted with each other over lunch. The way their conversations played off each other was like watching a perfectly scripted comedy. Cindy will truly be missed. Jeff, Ian & Meg - you have our deepest condolences and sympathies. May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared comfort you now and in the days ahead. Kevin & Jessica Shea
