MANCHESTER - Sr. Lucienne Jean CSC (Sr. Maurice of the Cross), 80, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, died peacefully at her residence Nov. 3, 2012.

She was born in Manchester Jan. 27, 1932, to George and Emeranda (St. Germain) Jean.

She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1952 and made her final profession in 1959.

A graduate of Notre Dame College in Manchester, she devoted 18 years to education of youth in Somersworth, Manchester, Nashua, Newmarket and Jaffrey, and in Springfield and New Bedford, Mass. She also served in Punaka, Bhutan for two years.

After pursuing studies in theology and psychology she served as pastoral assistant at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Geneva, N.Y., from 1986 to 2002. Her later years were dedicated to tutoring and GED testing in the Hillsborough Department of Corrections.

She leaves three siblings, Loretta Morin of Manchester, Albert Jean of Londonderry and Richard Jean of Arizona. She was predeceased by four siblings, Yvette Chouinard, Irene Jean, Yvonne Lessels and Maurice Jean.

SERVICES: Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at St. George Manor, 357 Island Pond Road, Manchester.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of St. George Manor. Burial will follow in St. Augustin Cemetery.
