FREMONT - Mary Evelyn (Call) Murphy, 62, of Fremont, died on Nov. 15, 2012, at Exeter Hospital, following a long illness.

Born on Oct. 5, 1950, in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Hazel Call. She grew up in the city, graduating from Hyde Park High School in 1968. She married Douglas W. Murphy and moved first to Belmont, Mass., then Amesbury, Mass., before finally moving to Fremont in 1976.

Mary worked in the "steno pool" at Boston Gas in the 1960s, then stopped working full time to raise three children. She then went back to work, starting in the late 1980s, as an executive assistant and secretary at various companies and school districts, including Ellis Elementary School in Fremont, Timberlane Regional High School in Plaistow and Exeter High School in Exeter. Most recently, in semi-retirement, she made and sold handmade crafts via her own business, Country Cottage Crafts.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Douglas W. Murphy of Fremont; her three sons, Justin Murphy and his wife, Kristen, of Fremont, Chad Murphy and his wife, Elizabeth, of Manchester, and Sean Murphy and his wife, Michelle, of North Berwick, Maine; grandchildren Kaitlyn Mae Murphy of Fremont and Amelia Call Murphy of Manchester; her sisters, Eileen Kushmerek and her husband, Edward, of Peabody, Mass., and Rita (Call) Quirk of Lanesboro, Mass.; her brothers, Lawrence Call and his wife, Mary, of Hernando, Fla., and William Call and his wife, Pat, of Milford, Mass., and Robert E. Call of Braintree, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Arthur and Joseph Call, and her parents, Arthur and Hazel Call.
