Manchester - Paul M. Harkinson, M.D., passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Manchester on March 6, 1923, the son of Ralph E. and Jeanette (Stewart) Harkinson.
He was a graduate of Manchester Central High School, and Kimball Union Academy. He attended the University of New Hampshire and Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Harkinson graduated from Tufts Medical School, Class of 1948.
He was joined in marriage with Marie Healey on May 12, 1948.
He received his medical training at the New England Medical Center Hospital in Boston, the West Haven, Conn., Veterans Administration Hospital and Grace New Haven Hospital, Conn.
He was in the practice of internal medicine associated with Elliot Hospital in Manchester from 1954 to 1996, after which Dr. Harkinson practiced at the Manchester Veterans Administration Hospital. He was a member of the N.H. Medical Society and a 64-year member of the American Medical Association.
Dr. Harkinson was a World War II veteran. He served his country in the Korean War as a captain in the U.S. Air Force in the Far East theater of operations.
Dr. Harkinson is survived by five daughters, Judy Paquette and her husband, Buddy, of Hooksett, Maryjane Keefe and her husband, Quentin, of Manchester, Sarah Dargan and her husband, TJ, of Bremerton, Wash., Jeanette Leahy of York, Maine, and Paula Brooks and her husband, Richard, of Canton, Mass.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Morrison and her husband, Morti.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Marie, and two brothers, Stewart and Ralph Harkinson.

services: Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, in Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, in St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 207 Hemlock St., Manchester.
