AMHERST - William "Bill" Rose, of Amherst, passed on Jan. 26, 2013, at The Elms Health Care Center in Milford.

Mr. Rose was born on the family farm in Barkley Township, Ind., a son of William and Bess (Watson) Rose, and had been an Amherst resident for many years.
Mr. Rose was a 1943 graduate of Purdue University.
Prior to retirement, he was an electrical engineer with the Sanders Associates Company.
Mr. Rose had been an amateur radio operator since 1950, having communicated with other amateur radio operators in more than 350 countries.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Roberta "Bobbie" Rose.
Family includes three children, Elaine J. Rose, John T. Rose and David A. Rose and his wife, Linda.
services: Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cate & Johnson Funeral Home, 573 Pine St., corner of Harrison Street in Manchester. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 43 Wheeler Road in Hollis. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Groveland, Mass.
