NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - William F. "Bill" Pierce died Feb. 5, 2013, in Iowa.

He was the husband of the late Muriel (Davis) Pierce for 68 years before her death in 2010.

Born Oct. 18, 1920, in North Attleboro, he was a son of the late Carrie and Earnest L. Pierce.

Bill was a master welder retired from the Naval Ship Yard in Portsmouth, N.H., after 22 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Italy and the Philippines.

Through his retirement he could be found helping friends or relatives with many building projects.

He is survived by Sarah and James O'Leary of Gilford, N.H., Edward and Sherrie Pierce of Franklin, N.H., Richard and Mary Pierce of Eden Prairie, Minn., Alfred and Janet Pierce of Boyd, Minn., Kathlyn and Roger Tippets of Colorado Springs, Colo., Tim and Jeanne Pierce of Winterset, Iowa; a brother, Joseph and his wife, Thelma Pierce of Hampton, N.H., brother-in-law Norman and Patsy Davis of Paris, Texas, sisters-in-law Winona and Dennis Peterman of Mocksville, N.C., and Ester Davis of Edneyville, N.C.; Gwen and Ronald Noel of Culver, Ind; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four siblings, a grandson and a great-grandson.


SERVICES: A viewing and funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. in Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro, 508-695-5651. A graveside service will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Attleboro.
