MANCHESTER - Eva Ida Duval, 89, died February 24, 2013, of congestive heart failure, at the Hanover Hill Health Care Center.

She was born in Manchester on Jan. 18, 1924, the youngest of three children of Louis and Antala (St. Germain) Parenteau.
Eva was the widow of Alphonse Emile Duval, who died in 1998. Eva and Alphonse were married for 54 years. Their children include, Louis Duval and his wife, Donna, of Winchester, Mass., Bernard Duval and his wife, Jean, of Washington, D.C., Elise Rouleau and her husband, Peter, of Manchester, David Duval and his wife, Beverly, of Manchester, Marguerite Perez and her husband, Wil, of Northfield, Maria Beasley and her husband, Ted, of Bedford, NH, Jeanne Brown of Oakland, Calif., Anne O'Brien and her husband, Richard, of Laconia, Jerome Duval and his wife, Joyce, of Manchester, and Thomas Duval and his wife, Kate, of Raleigh, N.C.
Eva leaves a brother, Walter J. Parenteau, of Manchester; a daughter-in-law, Maria Hurley Duval of Morrisville, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
Eva was predeceased by a son, Claude Duval in 2010 and a sister, Lorraine Demers in 2009.
Members of Eva's large family include 35 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Eva also leaves behind dear friends and acquaintances at The Meetinghouse at River Front in Manchester, where she lived for more than four years before her final illness.
Above all else, Eva loved her large family and enjoyed their festive, noisy gatherings at weddings, showers, holidays, and reunions. She eagerly awaited the arrival of every new member to the family, and when they came, she considered them all her babies. Eva loved being on the go and never tired of drives to the coast of New Hampshire and Maine. Her favorite foods were lobster and ice cream. No meal was truly complete without bread and butter.
services: Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester.
The funeral will be held Friday with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:30AM in Saint Marie Church, Notre Dame Avenue, Manchester.
Burial will take place in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
