BEDFORD - Victor D. Neugebauer, 86, of Bedford died Feb. 21, 2013, after a period of declining health.

He was born on May 20, 1926, in Manchester, the son of the late Victor A. and Aline (Auger) Neugebauer. He attended Manchester schools, moved in 1938 to Bedford, where he graduated from Stevens Buswell School, then went to Manchester West, Class of 1944.
He was one of the charter members of the school band and played in the orchestra.
He joined the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps and was honorably discharged as pharmacist 3rd class in California, where he met his wife.
He stayed there and became a police officer and after 22 years retired as sergeant and narcotics officer and returned to Bedford, where he was employed at Kinney Roofing of Manchester for 35 years.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl Fama of Millbrae, Calif., Donna Covert of Moraga, Calif., Karen Wright of San Carlos, Calif., and David Neugebauer of Sweden; his wife's children, Judy Blanford of Manchester, Jane McCall of Goffstown, and Lisa Denningham of Concord; his sisters, Marie Blanchard of Canton, Mass., Beverly Toolin of Bedford and Patricia Parrack of Bellaire, Texas; 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years Helen (Perry) Neugebauer; sister, Aline Burbank; and his two brothers, Robert and Philip Neugebauer.
services: His memorial gathering will be held at the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 250 Coolidge Ave., Manchester, on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Complimentary valet parking will be provided. Committal prayers will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford on Friday, March 1, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Victor's memory can be made to St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, 03110.
