MANCHESTER - Roger R. Farland, 87, of Manchester, died March 16, 2013, at Ridgewood Center in Bedford after a period of declining health.

He was born in Manchester on July 8, 1925, to Theodore and Virginie (Vanasse) Ferland. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard.
Mr. Farland worked as a carpenter for Davison Construction Company for 34 years and was a member of Carpenters Union, Local 625, in Manchester.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 79 and the Mount Royal Club. He enjoyed bowling and eating at the Puritan Backroom Restaurant in Manchester.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Dorothy V. Farland, in 2002.
The family includes his wife of 68 years, Ruth A. (Capen) Farland of Manchester; a son, Real "Ray" Farland and his wife, Lise, of Manchester; a granddaughter, Lori Barnwell and her husband, Scott; two great-grandchildren, Douglas and Owen Barnwell; a sister, Lucienne Perry of Manchester; and nieces and nephews.
services: There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. Committal prayers will follow at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester.
