MANCHESTER - Robert L. Batchelder Jr., 70, of Manchester, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born on June 11, 1942, in Ayer Mass., and was the son of Robert L. and Florence (Neagle) Batchelder.
He entered the U.S. Air Force in February 1961.
Robert worked many years and retired from BAE Systems as a mechanical engineer.
He took great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved camping and hiking. He was an avid reader who enjoyed watching TV and playing golf.
Members of his family include his three sons, Eric Batchelder and his wife, Sarah, of Leominister, Mass., Keith Batchelder and his wife, Kerri, of Hatchville, Mass., and Brandon Batchelder and his wife, Chloe, of Canterbury; three grandchildren, grandsons Desmond and Henry and granddaughter Morgan; a brother, Tracy Batchelder of Florida; a sister, Patti La Fleur of New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Sharon Bolden.
Services: There are no calling hours. A memorial service with full military honors will take place in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, on Friday, April 19, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, tax-deductible donations may be made in his name to the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 626, Concord 03302-0626 to help his family create a memorial bench.
