THE VILLAGES, Fla. - Emilia L. Biron passed away late Friday evening on July 5, 2013, at Tampa General Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Donald J. Biron of The Villages; daughter Jeanne and husband Vincent Vieten of Hanover, N.H.; two grandchildren, Caroline Vieten of Hanover, N.H., and Hank Vieten of Missoula, Mont.; a sister, Margarita and her husband Manuel Garcia of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Helen Costello of Kansas City, Mo., and several nephews and nieces.
Emilia was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on May 8, 1926, married her husband Donald J. Biron in San Antonio, Texas, on April 20, 1963, and then moved to Manchester, N.H., in 1965, where they resided for 31 years. They retired and moved to The Villages in 1996.
Emilia received her bachelor's degree from the University in Saltillo, Mexico. She worked for many years at the Social Security Office in Manchester. While living in Manchester, Emilia was very active in community service. She worked as a volunteer at both the Catholic Medical Center and the Elliott Hospital, along with volunteering at the Beech Street School where she contributed her time to teaching elementary school children to learn to read.
During her life, Emilia and her husband traveled widely in Europe and in Mexico.
It was Emilia's wish that her remains be given to the University of Florida Medical School in Gainesville, Florida. Her selfless gift is a true testament to her giving nature.
