Alfred Greer Obituary
He was born May 29, 1918, in Malden, Mass. He served in the Army in World War II and was one of the last surviving Merrill's Marauders. A graduate of UMass, he went on to obtain a master's degree in forestry from Yale University and worked as a highway engineer for the state of New Hampshire before moving to Alaska in 1972 where he was employed as the state ecologist during the construction of the Alaska oil pipeline.
Married on June 27, 1949, to his beloved wife, Della, they celebrated 62 blessed years together until her passing in 2011. He is survived by his five children and their spouses, his oldest son, Hank, and wife Shirley Greer of York Beach, Maine, his eldest daughter Della Greer and Fred Perez of Ossipee, his son Larry and wife Irena Greer of Wasilla, Alaska, his daughter Ginny Greer and husband Barry Trask of Manchester, and his youngest daughter Betsy and husband Dennis Cote of Rochester; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was loved and will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.

Such an intelligent man who was always willing to share interesting stories from his long life. What a pleasure it was to spend time with him. He will be missed, but now he is in a better place watching over you all. My prayers are with the family.

I had the privilege of visiting Alfred at Villa Crest and getting to know him. Alfred had a long and full life.
