Herbert Blackmon Obituary

Herbert G. Blackmon, 86, of Londonderry, died August 16, 2016 at the All American Assisted Living. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on July 9, 1930 the son of James and Anna (Andre) Blackmon. He grew up in Jersey City and was educated in the local school system.

He was a veteran of the US Army, Navy and Air Force proudly serving during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War retiring after more than 20 years of service. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he became a licensed electrician and worked in that trade for many years retiring from Fireye Inc. in Derry. He continued to work part-time at Sears in Manchester. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Derry for many years. Herb enjoyed traveling and the times he spent with family including his "grand-dogs". He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Judith Blackmon, in February 2016.

Members of his family include his two daughters Wendy Gancarz and her husband John of Northwood and Joyce Pearsall and her husband Edward of Manchester, his son Bryan Blackmon and his wife Cheryl Ann of Merrimack, his four grandchildren Nicole Pearsall, Gregory Pearsall, Emilee Gancarz and Sheridan Gancarz, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday August 22 from 4 to 7 pm at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester. Inurnment with military honors will be held on Tuesday August 23 at 11 am in the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Condolences may be offered at www.mchughfuneralhome.com.
