Edward D. Wyner, 88, of New Hartford, passed away peacefully, May 7, 2013, in the Mulberry House of the Sitrin Healthcare Center, New Hartford, where he was a resident. He was born on January 10, 1925, in Pittsfield, MA, the son of the late Abraham and Sarah Gold Wyner. Ed attended University of Michigan, and then continued his education at Bentley College of Business in Watham, MA, where he received his BA in Accounting and Finance. On May 2, 1946, he married the former Muriel Greenburg in Albany. The couple returned to the Utica area where they have been lifelong residents. Ed started his accounting career working for his father-in-law at Myron Greenburg, CPA which later became Greenburg & Wyner in 1947. Over the years the firm continued to flourish becoming Greenburg, Wyner, Rinehard & Walsh and then Wyner, Rinehard & Fitzgerald. Ed was a member and past treasurer of Temple Emanu-El and also served as treasurer of Temple Beth El for fifteen years. Ed was a 32 degree Mason and past president of Bnai Brith. He was a member of the Board of Directors and past treasurer for the Utica Chamber of Commerce , past treasurer of the Fort Schuyler Club, member of the Ziyara Shriners, and very active in the UJA. Ed was the founder, past vice president and past treasurer of the Downtown Utica Development Association and was the official representative to the Economic Development Growth Enterprises (EDGE). He was the founder of the Mohawk Valley Learning Institute where he taught finance. Ed also was on the board of directors of SUNY. In 1990, he was named Humanitarian of the Year by St. Elizabeths Medical Center. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf. His proud moment was his hole-in-one. Eds greatest love was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His survived by his dedicated and loving wife, Muriel; his daughter, Barbara (Joseph) Amico, of Chester Springs, PA; his son, Jeffrey Wyner, of Brooklyn; his grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Miller, Tracy (Mark) Prouty and Justin (Stephanie) Amico; his four adored great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Dorace Newman; and several nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his sisters, Pauline Cohen and Rose Less. Eds funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Temple Emanu-El, 2710 Genesee Street, Utica, with Rabbi Cassi Kail, officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at Temple. Interment will follow in Temple Beth El Cemetery, Whitesboro. Shiva will be observed privately by the family. The Family would like thank the entire staff at the Mulberry House at the Sitrin Healthcare Center for all of their loving and compassionate care throughout the years. His funeral arrangements are with Scott J. Pizer, funeral director for Jacobson-Pizer Funeral Chapel, Inc., 1123 Court Street, Utica.
