Paschal Delfino Obituary

Paschal "Pat" Delfino
Utica
Mr. Paschal J. "Pat" "Patsy" Delfino, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in the comfort and dignity of his home, with his loving family by his side. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on April 11, 1928, Pat was the son of the late Frank and Maria (Roberto) Delfino. He was raised and educated in Scranton. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Pat honorably served his country from 1946-1947 stationed in the post-World War II Pacific Theater of Operations. On October 23, 1948, he was united in marriage to the former Mary Citriniti with whom he shared a loving union of 18 years until her untimely passing on December 13, 1966. He shared in a second union when he wed the former Marilyn Newcomb on February 14, 1970, until her passing on October 26, 2003. Patsy was employed at the Griffiss Air Force Base from 1950-1965 and later transferred to the United States Postal Service where he worked for a period of 39 years. In total, he was a productive and hardworking federal employee for an impressive 54 years. But his most venerable vocation was being a very caring father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Pat loved the simple gifts of life, like going for walks, spending time with family, trips to Scranton visiting family, woodworking and hanging out with his friends. He was savvy in selecting winning sports teams, as he supported the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. He was a parishioner of St. Mark's Church. Pat is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Mary and Gary Specht of Utica, and Victoria Delfino and her partner, Susan Butler, of Maine; his son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Tina Delfino of Yorkville; his grandchildren, Christopher Specht of Utica, Frank and Jill Delfino of Poughquag, NY, and Danielle Delfino of Valley Stream, NY; and his great-grandchildren, Sofia Delfino and Ava Delfino. Pat will also be remembered by his sister, Sarah Kolojeski; his brother, Peter Delfino, Sr., and Maude Klara of PA; his step-daughters and sons-in-law, Candy and Dick Whitaker of Las Vegas, and Gerri and David Davis of Utica; his step-sons and daughter-in-law, Joe Kelly, and Kevin and Lauri Kelly, all of Utica; step-grandchildren, Jackie and Alan Serley, Cindy and Brian Miner, Tommy N. Conte, Heather and Sean Utera, and Nikki Davis, Andrew Denison and Lexi Davis, and his many step-great-grandchildren; many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins, especially acknowledging Thomasina Raso; sister-in-law, Rose Femia; and a multitude of friends, especially Don and Bonnie Bova, and his Burger King and McDonalds buddies; and his neighbors, Mike and Jennifer DiBrango and Toni Biancardi. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Helen C. Vilardi, Fred J. and Frances C. Citriniti, Anthony & Mary Citriniti, Vincent Citriniti, Joseph Femia and Frank Kolojeski; step-son, Tom Conte; his step-daughter, Donna Marie; and a special uncle and aunt, Walter and Rose (Roberto) Koehler. The family extends sincere appreciation to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., especially acknowledging Kathy and Lori. A special thank you is to be extended to Pat's caregiver, Greg Burns, for his care and compassion. Visitation will take place Sunday from 2-5 at the Eannace Funeral Home, 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral arrangements. Pat's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Monday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Mark's Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mark Pasik. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Online tributes at: www.Eannace FuneralHome.com
