Bertha Chrabaszcz

Bertha M. Chrabaszcz, 96, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the home of her son in Elmira. She was born in New York Mills on November 9, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine Trzepacz Radlowski, and attended local schools. On October 12, 1940, she married Stephen Chrabaszcz in St. Mary's Church, New York Mills, a loving union for 50 years until his death on July 13, 1990. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Sacred Heart St. Mary's Our Lady of Czestochowa in New York Mills, the Sacred Heart Rosary Society of the Church, the New York Mills Seniors, the Hilltop Seniors and a former member of the Legion of Mary. Her survivors include her daughter and her husband, Christine and Edward Primka, of SC; her son, James and his wife, Amy Chrabaszcz, of Elmira; and her sister, Cecelia Lupinski, of New York Mills. Also included are her two grandsons, Jeffrey and his wife, Anna Chrabaszcz, and Michael Chrabaszcz, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Sophie Bobrek, and a brother, Edward Radlowski. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass which will be celebrated on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Church of Sacred Heart St. Mary's. Those that wish may call today from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 284 Main Street, New York Mills. The members of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society will gather for services at 5 p.m., this evening. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus & Casimer Cemetery.
