David A. Dwyer, 74, of Utica passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Utica on December 28, 1937, a son of the late Frank A. and Blanche (Parker) Dwyer. He was a 1957 graduate of Utica Free Academy. At St. Joseph's Church, Utica on November 19, 1960 he was united in marriage to Jane-Ann Schreck. For 35 years until his retirement, David was employed with Mohawk Containers. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's & St. Patrick's Church, a 50 year member of the Knights of St. John Commandry #41, a member of the Utica Maennerchor, Whitestown Vets and I.O.O.B. David was an avid hockey fan and a devoted family man who enjoyed camping with his family. David is survived by his wife, Jane-Ann, two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Richard Peroni, Rome, and Cathleen Dwyer, UPD retired, Utica; a son, Thomas A. Dwyer, Utica; four grandchildren, Daniel Peroni , Crystal Peroni , Makenna Dwyer and Carly Dwyer; two special people who were considered grandchildren, Jonathan Caldwell and Marlissa Caldwell; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Gail Dwyer, Waterville; in-laws, Carolyn and Ralph Brown, Baldwinsville, Rosemary and David Evans, Liverpool, Patricia and Robert Thompson, Liverpool, and James and Genevieve Schreck, Charlotte, NC; and many nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Virginia Dwyer, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Julius and Jane Schreck. Mr. Dwyer's funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 10:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 11:00 from St. Joseph's & St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 4 - 7. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make donations to Hospice & Palliative Care Inc. The family would like to thank Dr. Samir Desai, Judy Balch, nurse practitioner, and the nurses of the 5th floor of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for all the loving care given to David. The Knights of St. John will meet at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 6:00 and the New York Mills Fire Department will meet at 6:30.
