Rose M. Prichard
Valatie/Sauquoit
Rose M. Prichard, 72, of Valatie, NY, formerly of Sauquoit, passed away October 25, 2012, at home. Rose was born April 7, 1940, daughter of the late Michael and Antoinette Scalise Guarno. She was educated in Whitesboro schools, graduating with the class of 1957. Rose was raised in the home of Salvatore and Edith (Sirianni) Scalise, with much love, family and good food. She married John E. Prichard on May 30, 1969 in Oxford, NY, on one of their famous Lets go for a ride and see where we end up trips. That wonderful whim lasted a beautiful 43 years and started their own family of love. Rose worked as an office manager and a bookkeeper for many years. Later on, she became a nurses assistant for the Lutheran Homes. She loved caring for the old folks, as she used to say. She could sit with her residents for hours and listen to their stories of days gone by. Her biggest joy and loves were her husband and girls. With much love, John and Rose raised their girls to be ladies, confident and respectful. Rose gave them everything she had every single day. She taught them to cook and to sew, how to get a job, how to be Yankees fans and how to pump gas. When the girls left the nest, John and Rose were able to reconnect and enjoy the next phase of their lives together. Quiet dinners, bowling leagues, visiting her sister and brother-in-law, the late Kate and Pete Gendron, were their new norm. They enjoyed their weekly trips to Joans Diner for breakfast, good conversation and good people. She absolutely adored her husband and was always proud of her girls. Each of Rose's grandchildren brought a sparkle to her eye. She cherished each one of them in their own way and not one felt left out. She would hold each hand, kiss each boo-boo, and take all the hugs and kisses she could get. She watched with pride has her girls took care of their own families in the same spirit she cared for hers. Rose is survived by her devoted and loving husband, John; her girls and their husbands, Mary and Ron Stevenson, Vernon Center, and Sandi and Jim VanWormer, Valatie; her adoring grandchildren, Alex, Aaron, Arik, McKinley, Amelia, Jameson, Jillian, and Elijah; her sister, Yolanda Tomascak, FL; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Bonnie Guarno, Utica; and many, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, including Edith, Danette, Bonnie and Patrick. She also leaves her sisters-in-law, Helen Guarno and Angie Guarno; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Rachel Prichard, CA. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Daniel, Joseph, James, Francis, Anthony; and sisters, Frances Campbell, Catherine Gendron, Louise Organisciak, Marie Ellinwood, Helen Guarno, and Josephine Rappan; and cousins, Lucretia (Dolly) Dutcher and Alina Gruebel. The funeral will be on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., and at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are on Monday from 4-7 pm. For online expressions of sympathy please go to www.dfwefh.com
