Stella Z.
Stella Z. (Zagraniczny) Romas, 89, a lifelong Utica resident, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at The Pines of Utica. She was born in Utica on January 5, 1925, the daughter of John and Victoria (Madro) Zagraniczny, and attended local schools. On July 20, 1946, she was married to Stanley Romas in Holy Trinity Church; he died in 1979. Stella was employed with Vick's Lithograph for many years, until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Church and also a member of the West Side Seniors, the Polonaise Seniors and the Jan Roback P.L.A.V. Post Ladies Auxiliary. Stella was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed volunteering at Holy Trinity Church whenever there was an event or making pierogies. Her survivors include her daughter, Jean Marie Rinehard, of Utica; her grandchildren, Todd M. Rinehard, of Utica, and Suzanne Garber, of VA; and her siblings, Stanley Zagraniczny, Mary Pawloski, and Helen and her husband, Joseph Handzel, all of Utica. Also included are her two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Emily Garber; Mary Kaczor, of Yorkville, who was like a sister to her; several nieces and nephews; and her daughter-in-law, Sally Romas. She was predeceased by her son, Walter Romas, and her brother, Joseph and his wife, Regina Zagraniczny. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Utica. There are no calling hours. Entombment will take place in the Resurrection Chapel of Holy Trinity Cemetery. Light a Candle at:
