JoAnne Eisenhut Obituary

JoAnne Eisenhut
Deansboro
JoAnne passed away July 21, 2013, 2 days shy of her 79th birthday, with her loving family at her side. Born in Clayville, NY, at Ludlow's Homestead on July 23, 1934, she was the daughter of Ray C. Smith and Eleanor Ludlow Smith. JoAnne attended Clayville Elementary and Sauquoit Valley Central schools, and later worked for A&P stores, P&C stores and as a bookkeeper for Grand Union stores. In 1973, JoAnne married William Eisenhut and was with him until his passing in 1990. JoAnne belonged to St. Bernard's Church in Waterville, NY; she was active in the Paris Hill Garden Club and the Oriska Valley and Kirkland Seniors' Clubs. She is survived by Phil Brennan, her companion of many years, and two children, Richard M. Vitullo of Ojen, Spain, and Randall M. Vitullo (Linda Zee) of Holland Patent, NY. JoAnne is also survived by five stepchildren: Robert Eisenhut of Cocoa Beach, FL; Richard Eisenhut of Utica, NY; Daniel Eisenhut of Deansboro, NY; Thomas (Kathy) Eisenhut of Deansboro, NY; and Theresa (Gary) Schachtler of Clinton, NY. She is further survived by her sister, Pamela (Gerald) Litz of Boonville, NY, and her brother, Barry (Sandra) Smith of Erie, Colorado. JoAnne was the proud grandmother of 12: Ryan Langone, Joshua Eisenhut, Kelly Lawton, Courtney Kelley, Justin Schachtler, William Eisenhut, Brooke Martin, Kaitlin Eisenhut, Daniel Eisenhut, Andrew Schachtler, Ian Eisenhut and Jordan Schachtler; and great-grandmother of 5: Billy Eisenhut, Johnathan and Daniel Langone, Reese Martin, and Marin Hope Eisenhut. JoAnne was a force of nature, a study in perpetual motion. She was a fastidious housekeeper and a meticulous gardener, but once these tasks were complete she knew how to have a good time. She spent her winters in Florida and later in Arizona; when in New York, she loved to eat out (especially at Palateri Joe's), play cards with her Sunday group, and travel with the Seniors' clubs. Epic Mother's Day celebrations will be fondly remembered by all. JoAnne's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 26, at 10:30 at St. Bernard's Church in Waterville. Interment will be in Sauquoit Valley Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Please consider donations in her name to either Hospice and Palliative Care (www.hospicecareinc.org), 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413 or the American Cancer Society (www.donate.cancer.org), 100 Lomond Ct., Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes will be available at church. JoAnne's family would like to thank the 3rd floor Oncology Wing at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for all of their care and compassion during her illness. Arrangements are with the Smith Funeral Home, 3022 Oneida St., Sauquoit. To view JoAnne's online memorial, please go to: www.smith-funeralhome.com
