Alfred G. Walker, 73, of Verona, died at home on Sunday, July 14, 2013. He was born and raised in Westmore-land, the son of Margaret Hale Walker and Willard Walker, and graduated from West-moreland High School, class of 1958. Alfred married his sweetheart, Adliza Pryor, on July 18, 1959. Alfred spent most of his life working the land, owning a dairy farm in Vernon Center for 35 years. He worked at Oneida County Sherriff's Department for 11 years from 1989 to 2001. Alfred was a member of the Sons of American Legion, Post 404, Vernon. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Adliza Walker; his son, Patrick Walker, and daughter, Cyndi Deep, of Vernon Center, and daughter, Susan Walker, of Vermont; his grandsons, Rob Deep (Kristen), Mike Deep, Patrick Walker, Christopher Walker, Jordan Walker and Marc Walker; great-grandchildren, Macie and Matthew Deep; two sisters, Irene Quinlan (Allen), of Syracuse, and Joyce Wickard (Dale), of Pennsylvania; six nephews, Jeff Quinlan (Maureen), Scott Quinlan (Pam), Eric Evans (Kim), Brad Evans (Amy), Dale Wickard (Tracey) and Josh Wickard (Veronica); and his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Pryor, of New Hartford. He is also survived by several step-brothers and step-sisters, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Alfred was predeceased by mother, Margaret Walker Slusarczyk Spaulding, and father, Willard Walker; step-fathers, Julian Slusarczyk and Merton Spaulding; father-in-law, Daniel Pryor; son-in-law, Robert Deep, Jr.; and godson, Brian Brewer. Calling hours will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, at the Malecki Funeral Home, Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. A Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Vernon, followed by burial at Verona Cemetery.
