Arthur Kevin Carney
Hes known as Kevin by friends and family. Kevin has been missing since June 25th after a boating accident on Delta Lake. Kevin was born on September 12th 1950. He attended local schools and graduated from NYM in 1969. He received his APICS Certification from Syracuse University. Recently retired on June 24th from Con Med where he was employed as a Master Planner. Kevin was an avid athlete. He played golf on the NYM team during high school. He also played basketball for the city of Utica and softball for Chicago Pneumatics. Kevin enjoyed bowling. He was on the Wednesday night team at King Pin and couples league on Saturday night at Vista Bowling Alley. Kevin was nominated into the Utica Bowling Hall of Fame. Kevin loved his family and his faith. He enjoyed cooking for people and his 2 dogs, Clover and Pint. He always loved having get-togethers with family and friends. He wanted everyone to have a good time. He was currently trying to watch the complete series of Smallville; he made it half way through season 8.He enjoyed his boat and living near Delta Lake. He was also an avid fisherman; especially ice fishing. He went for the past 35 years on fishing trips to the St Lawrence every spring and fall. Kevin currently was parishioner at St Josephs and St Patricks Church in Utica. He was on the parish council; was lecturer and Eucharistic minister. He attended novena and perpetual adoration at Transfiguration Church in Rome. He tried to attend daily mass when possible. In the past, Kevin taught confirmation class at St Anthonys St Patricks in Chadwicks and St Annes in Hinckley. He was devoted to Mother Mary, Saint Joseph and Saint Michael the archangel. Kevin is survived by his wife of twenty years, Nancy; their three children, Jeremy McDermott in Dayton, Ohio, Ruth Anne and Michael Kramer in Alexandria, Virginia, Maureen McDermott and James Pyo in Seattle, WA; his parents, Arthur Carney, in Yorkville, and Dawn Atkinson, in Utica; his two brothers, Eric and Richard Carney, both of Utica; and his two sisters, Diane and Joseph Pawlek, and Michelle and Lou Luce of Whtbs. He has one step brother, Tom Atkinson, of Clinton and step sister, Luann Alsheimer, of Sauquoit. He has one grandson, Henry Joseph Kramer, and several nieces and nephews. His lifelong friends are the Dunn family, Nils Steika, Kim LaChevet, and Todd Moyer. He was predeceased by his step mother, Bertha Carney; his step father, Jack Atkinson; and lifelong friend, Wally Dunn. The family wants to thank everyone for everything that has been done during this difficult time. Memorial Service for Kevin will be Tuesday July 9th at 7 p.m. at St Josephs and St Patricks Church in Utica NY. There will be a reception to follow at the Parish Center. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Arthur Kevin Carney Memorial Fund where the donations will go to McCarthys Team: OCSO Marine Unit and Dive Team.
