FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA - On August 19th, 2018, Audrey (Maude) became an angel. Her husband of 54 years, Russell, and sons, Russell and Robert, were with her when she passed. Her passing was peaceful.
Audrey was born on September 25th, 1943, to Frank and Bernice Anderson. She was one of eight children. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dolores; and a brother, Frank (Bucky).
She is survived by her husband, Russell; sons, Russell, III (Ann) and Robert (Shaunee); grandchildren, Tammy, April, Alison, Russell Ivy, Cheyenne, Sierra and Robert, Jr.; as well as her great-grandchildren, Alaina and Lillian. There is another grandchild on the way. She is also survived by siblings, Beverly, Wesley, Connie, John and George.
Audrey and Russ were married on November 16, 1963. They had Russell and Robert. When Robert was old enough, Audrey became the second female school bus driver for the school district. Audrey belonged to the Methodist Church in Morrisville and the Methodist United Church in Washington Mills. She was also a Sunday school teacher. Audrey became a medical emergency technician. She went to night school at BOCES to become a licensed practical nurse. She was then employed by New York State Marcy Psychiatric Center. Audrey continued her education at MVCC to become a registered nurse. She worked every weekend to go to MVCC. Audrey graduated from MVCC with honors and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. All of this was accomplished while running a household and caring for her family. Audrey became a Ward Charge Nurse at the New York State Marcy Psychiatric Center and received many commendations for outstanding service.
During Audrey's life, she accomplished so many things. She was a Sunday school teacher, she became an EMT, she was a member of the Willowvale Fire Department and Eaton Fire Department Auxiliary, volunteered for SEVAC Ambulance, owned and operated a DBA (mowing lawns and snow plowing), sold Stanley and Watkins Products, baked for the farmers market, was secretary for the SEVAC Ambulance, was secretary for the board of directors of SEVAC, a member of Madison Hall preservation committee, Friends of the Morrisville Library. She was elected Trustee of the Morrisville Library twice. She was a member of the Morrisville Wednesday Club, Secretary of the Wednesday Club, President of the Wednesday Club and now an honorary member of the Wednesday Club. Audrey was awarded the Marion Taylor Award and the Golden Spade Award. She was instrumental in designing and obtaining the Morrisville Fountain, donated by her sister, Beverly. She also took care of the park flowers around the fountain on Cedar Street. Audrey was also a New York State volunteer ombudsman. She belonged to two Morrisville book clubs. She helped as an election poll watcher. Audrey worked on several projects for the restoration of Madison Hall to include Christmas decorations and worked on the Madison Hall Farmers Market. Audrey was very religious and dedicated to her family. Audrey was a very special person that had a genuine concern for others which was apparent to all who knew her. She is greatly missed already.
In lieu of flowers, Audrey requested donations in her name to any of the following organizations: SEVAC, Box 1030, Morrisville, NY 13408; Madison Hall Association, Box 115, Morrisville, NY 13408; or Eaton Fire Department, Main Street, Eaton, NY 13334.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date at a location to be determined by the family.
Services for the family have been entrusted to Lafayette Funeral Home, Fayetteville, North Carolina.
