Carl L. Grubel, 65, of Remsen, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Faxton-St. Luke's Health Care in New Hartford, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was born on March 28, 1947, a son of the late Walter and Arlene (Johnson) Grubel. Carl served his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1969. Carl was employed with the Whitesboro School System, retiring in 2010 after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Bear Creek Golf Club, the Remsen VFW, and the Labor Union of Miami, FL, Local 1652. Carl was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer; he loved his many trips with his special friends to Myrtle Beach, where he enjoyed golfing and fishing. He also enjoyed his fishing trips to Alexandria Bay. He is survived by a brother, Gary Grubel and Lena Davis, of Tennessee; his sisters, Marge (Bill) Temple, of Whitesboro, and Judy (Leo) Cornmire, of Whitesboro; two nephews, Eric Temple and Sean (Jennifer) Temple; and two nieces, Melissa (Marcus) Smith and Jennifer (Jake) Bartlett. He also leaves the Lacey family, Penny, Richie, Amy, Travis and Ira, and all of his many great friends. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to all of Carl's great friends, from Remsen, for the constant support that was given to Carl, especially during his most difficult days. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service which will be held on Monday at 7:00 PM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main St., Whitesboro, with the Rev. Laurie Pauley officiating. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday, prior to the service, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
