Catherine J. Budlong
Waterville
Catherine J. Budlong, 89, a lifelong resident of White St., Waterville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 2, 2011, with her family by her side, at the Pines at Utica. She was born May 7, 1921, in Clayville, the daughter of the late Michael and Gertrude Benson Toner. She was a graduate of Sauquoit Central School and the St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1942. On October 24, 1942, at St. Patrick's Church, Clayville, she married Daniel L. Budlong. He passed away January 29, 1991. Mrs. Budlong was a Registered Nurse with various hospitals throughout the area and at the Harding Nursing Home in Waterville. At one time, she also worked as a cashier and bookkeeper at the former A & P in Waterville. Mrs. Budlong was a parishioner or St. Bernard's Church, was a member of its Altar Rosary Society and was also a volunteer at the Harding Nursing Home. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, BettyAnn and Joe Zyla of Clinton; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel W. and Kathie Budlong of Chittenango; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Katherine and Jim Sullivan of Manlius, Earl and Katherine Budlong of Syracuse, Brandon Budlong of Laredo, TX, Randi Kristine Budlong of Hampton, VA, Tony Ferrucci, Jr. of Sauquoit, Andy and Brenda Ferrucci of Waterville, and Kathy and Lenny Cianfrocco of Waterville; a great-granddaughter, Susan Sullivan of Manlius; a sister, Margaret Scholl of Christmas, FL; a devoted niece, Sue Price of Waterville; a sister-in-law, Alyce Budlong of Waterville; as well as many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Helen Smith, Mary Fuller and Marion Welch; three brothers, William, James and Frances Toner; and a "chosen" son, Tony Ferrucci, Sr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Bernard's Church, Waterville. Spring interment will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday evening (tonight) from 4-7 at the Bentz & Amodio Funeral Service, Inc., 470 French Rd., Utica/New Hartford. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to a much dedicated, professional and loving staff, of all the departments, at the Pines at Utica, who became Mrs. Budlong's loving extended family the past 10 years.
