Dennis William Carney, Sr., 63, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012, at his home, with his loving family by his side, following a courageous year long battle with cancer. He was born in Utica, the son of the late George and Ellen Tooley Carney. He was a graduate of Madison High School, Class of 1968. On August 9, 1969, Dennis married Arlene Hughes. Dennis also formed the Madison Little League Program. Dennis was predeceased by his parents, his brother Tom, his mother-in-law, Anna Jean Hughes, nephew, Michael and brother-in-law, Bill Kempeny. A special thank you to Hospice by Dennis' family for the loving and compassionate care given to Dennis, it will never be forgotten. Dennis was grateful for a benefit that was organized by his family and friends, especially Ted Legacy, that was held on July 21, at the Oriskany Falls Fireman's Field. He especially enjoyed seeing so many of his family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at 4:00 P.M., at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison, with a celebration of Dennis' Life to follow at the Kelly-Phillips American Legion Post in Oriskany Falls.
