Harold R. Strife
Harold R. Strife, 97, of Oswego and formerly of Stittville, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 19, 2012, at the St. Luke's Home in Oswego. He was born on September 7, 1915, in Old Forge, NY, a son of the late William and Hattie (Lomber) Strife. He served his country with honor in the United States Air Force during World War II with the 32nd Bombardment Squadron. On October 10, 1946, he was united in marriage to Florence Millington, a blessed union of over 60 years. Mrs. Strife died on October 27, 2006. Mr. Strife was employed with Hardee Fast Foods as a refrigeration specialist and was also self-employed as a refrigeration technician. Harold enjoyed raccoon hunting and camping with his family, especially at Indian River. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Jones and her husband, Wayne, of Oswego, and a son, Donald Strife, of Fallon, Nevada. He also leaves two grandchildren, Rebecca Tice and her husband, Brian, of Fulton, NY, and Chad Jones and his wife, Missy, of Canastota, also his great-grandchildren, Grace, Matthew and Avery. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kimberly Jones, and his many brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 7944 Steuben St., in Holland Patent. Interment will follow in Townsend Cemetery in Stittville. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
