She was the daughter of the late Dr. Albert Richard Hatfield and the late Jeannette Davidson Hatfield of Utica, where she was born and raised. Beloved wife and medical school classmate of Howard A. Corwin, M.D., she was a graduate of McGill University, where she was a leader in student government and women's issues, as well as a national collegiate swimming and diving champion. A 1958 graduate of Harvard Medical School, she was a gifted adolescent and adult therapist with extraordinary compassion and intuition. She served as a therapist at Wellesley College Student Health Services for 15 years. She taught at Harvard Medical School and was an Associate Professor in Psychiatry at the Tufts University School of Medicine. In retirement, she developed a psychiatric service for the indigent population through the Senior Friendship Center in Naples. Reflecting her sense of oneness with nature, she volunteered as a docent for the Greater Lovell Land Trust at Kezar Lake in Lovell, Maine, where she vacationed for 40 years. Like her son, Thomas George Corwin (1966-1988), she will be remembered by all who knew her for her humility, gentle manner, wonderful company and quiet grace. She is survived by her husband; her son, Erik Hatfield Corwin, his wife, Manal Sweillam Corwin, and their four children: Amanda, Adam, Alexander, and Aidan, of Potomac, Maryland; and her son, Bruce Davidson Corwin, his wife, Tami Booth Corwin, and their children: Annabelle and Austin, of Durham, PA. She also leaves her sisters, Mary Vicks, of New Hartford, NY, Heather Stafford, of Old Forge, NY, Louise Heindel, of Horseshoe Bay, TX; and her brothers, John Davidson Hatfield, of Silverthorne, CO, and Albert Richard Hatfield III, of Florida. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5, at 1 p.m. at Memorial Church in Harvard Yard, Cambridge, MA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc., Attn: Online Services Program, 434 West 33rd Street, New York, NY 10001; or International Thyroid Oncology Group, 5166 Commercial Drive, Yorkville, NY, 13495.
