Jeffrey P. Copperwheat, 55, of Utica, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare, with his loving family by his side. He was born March 13, 1959, in Utica, the son of Sidney and Elizabeth (Scholl) Copperwheat. Jeff was a graduate of Oriskany High School and received a BPS in business from SUNY IT and an AAS in construction technology from HCCC. He was employed with Waterbury Felt Co., Kleins All Sports, Herb Philipsons, Turner & Marfone, F.W. Web and presently with Sid Harvey Industries, Inc. Jeff loved his sports, golf, baseball and especially his beloved Boston Red Sox and Green Bay Packers. He also had a passion for cooking, especially Thanksgiving for his family, and an antique enthusiast. Surviving are his father, Sid Copperwheat, Oriskany; sister, Dona (Donald) Kirk, Oriskany; brothers, Michael (Cindy) Copperwheat, Sauquoit, and Andrew Copperwheat and his partner, Melissa Minor, Oriskany; and beloved partner, Lauren Bates and her daughter, Taylor Bates, whom he raised as his own from birth. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth, and brother, Sidney Copperwheat, III. The Copperwheat family wishes to extent their gratitude to the CCU and IOCU staff at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare for their care and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 10 to 12 p.m. at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Homes, 40 Main St., Whitesboro. Services will follow at 12 p.m. from the funeral home and 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, where a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Oriskany Cemetery. Remembrances in Jeff's name may be made to a . Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
