Mr. John A. LaRocco, age 88, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014, in the comfort of his home. Born in Utica on December 1, 1925, John was the son of the late Anthony and Adeline (Notaro) LaRocco. He was raised and educated locally. A veteran of World War II, he honorably served his country in the United States Army, a recipient of a Purple Heart. On June 23, 1956, he married the former Mary Marino. John was under the employ of the Joseph & Feiss Company for over 25 years, the position from which he retired. On a daily basis, John met with his buddies at Harry's Brake Services to share coffee and a donut. He held a great fondness for all animals, especially his feline companions. John was a parishioner of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. John is survived by his wife, Mary; his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony J. and Jane E. LaRocco of Utica; his cherished grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and in-laws. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend John's funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Wednesday morning at 10:00 at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
