Jonathan Cottet Obituary

Jonathan J. Cottet
Floyd/Oriskany
Jonathan J. Cottet, 29, of Floyd and formerly of Oriskany, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at his home in Floyd. He was born on May 26, 1982, in Utica, a son of Edward (Jay) and Marlene (Koval) Cottet. He was a 2001 graduate of Oriskany High School. He served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps. Upon returning home from the Marine Corps, Jonathan continued his education and graduated from MVCC and ESF Ranger School in Wanakena, NY, where he studied Forestry. Jonathan was employed with HTC, Human Technologies Corporation, in Utica, a job that he enjoyed very much. Jonathan was a very sweet, generous, hard working and kind hearted person who was very dedicated to his family. He loved spending his free time camping and fly fishing on the West Canada Creek. He especially enjoyed the companionship of his canine companion, Kadie, a yellow lab whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his parents, E. Jay and Marlene Cottet, of Oriskany; his brother, Jason Cottet and his wife, Kim, of Delaware; and a niece, Siena Cottet, also of Delaware. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Lillian Koval, of Rome; and his paternal grandmother, Orma Jane Charter, of Oklahoma. He leaves his aunts and uncles, William and Betty Koval, of Arkansas; Patricia and Martin Gryziec, of Rome, NY; and Sue Kells, of Newport; and several cousins. Jonathan also leaves his very close friends, Sylvia Severance, Elliot and Gabe Ciotti, Shane Griffin, Matt Albright, Adam Keller and Jim Simpson; also his special cousins, Robbie and Kim Kells. The family wishes to offer a very special thank you to HTC, Human Technologies Corporation, for their friendship and caring. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Westmoreland Road in Whitesboro. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Forty Main St., Whitesboro. For those who wish please consider the Humane Society of Rome in his memory; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. For online expressions of sympathy please go to: www.dfwefh.com

I have a son Jonathan's age. The loss must seem unbearable. Jonathan always had a sweet smile and a twinkle in his eye. He will be sorely missed. Thinking of you during this time of deep sorrow.
