Judy Alberts (nee Grossman), of Suffern, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014. She was born on August 1, 1932, in Malone, NY, the daughter of a Canadian mother (Alice Slakter) and American father (Sam Grossman). She met her beloved husband, Larry, while he was attending Utica College in Utica, NY, where the couple became long-term residents. They remained happily married for 57 years and raised 3 sons: John, David and Steven. She later became the generous and affectionate grandmother to 9. Judy had an outspoken warmth and sense of humor that endeared people to her throughout her life. For many years, she worked as a social worker for the County of Rockland at the Pomona Health Complex. She was also active in local politics, supporting many candidates and acting as a Committee Person for the Democratic Party. Judy is survived by her sons, David and Steve, Dave's wife Trish, daughter-in-law, Glynis, and grandchildren, Blake, Trevor, Ryan, Marissa, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Lily and Lucy -- and one great-grandchild, Joseph. The service will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm at Frederick Loesher Veteran Memorial Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY, where she will be buried with Larry.
