Kathleen Kathie L. Smith, 62, of Luke Road, died unexpectedly on Friday, February 15, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She was born on July 10, 1950, in Utica, the daughter of the late Richard D. and Barbara (Loudon) Litz Sr., and graduated from Clinton Central School. On November 8, 1969, she was married to Richard Smith. She worked for Herb Philipsons for many years in their human resources department. Kathie and Rick attended craft shows all over Central New York with their business, Scroller and Toler Decorative Painting and Woodwork, where they created beautiful crafts together. Kathie always had a sparkle in her eye and a smile on her face and loved her cats. Above all else, Kathie loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Rick; her two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rich Smith, of Clinton and Alan and Debbie Smith, of Durhamville; her granddaughter, Alexis; her four brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Shirley Litz, of Daytona Beach, FL, Paul and Beth Litz, of Troy, Michael and Heidi Litz, of Clinton and David and Karen Litz, of Clinton; many nieces and nephews, including her two special nieces, Jenna and Hannah Litz; goddaughter, Chelsea Litz; and her special friends, Sandy Kelsey and Charlotte Hughes. She was predeceased by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery. All are invited to call Monday, February 20, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family asks you to consider donations to Stevens-Swan Humane Society of Oneida County, 5664 Horatio St., Utica, NY 13502, as a tribute to Kathies love for her pets.
