Laura M. Talerico Utica, NY Laura M. Talerico, 82, lovingly known to many as "Gram", born on October 11, 1930, entered eternal rest on October 21, 2012, with her family by her side. The daughter of the late Raymond and Laura Nicola, she was raised and educated in Utica, NY. On July 4, 1955, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, the late Dominick V. Talerico, they would share twenty-four years of marriage and be blessed with the birth of seven children. Laura was self-employed; her husband and she were the owners of a locally owned concession stand for more than sixteen years. She later became employed at ConMed in Utica, NY, until she became ill and was forced into retirement in the early nineteen-nineties. Upon retirement, Laura dedicated her life to caring for her family, especially her great-grandchildren: Shante, Tre', Ontonio, Samarah and Romany, whom were raised in her home. Laura enjoyed the simple things in life: dancing, playing cards, bingo, horse races, fruit picking and multiple trips to the casinos. Win or lose, she was a dedicated fan of the NY Yankees. Laura was a faithful Catholic, attending St. Francis de Sales Church for many years until its closing. She was committed to her Italian traditions, which included pasta and homemade sauce every Sunday with her family, and making her homemade pies and breads for every holiday. Laura is survived by her devoted children: Ann Marie, Mary Ann, Carol, Victor, Gary Sr., Lucy (Melito Sr.) and extended daughter, Mary Rogowski. Her grandchildren whom she cherished: Jennifer (Michael), Heather (Bob), Andrea, Sara (Ray), Antoinette (Chris), Bernie, Kienne (Anthony), Gary Jr., Nacole (Terry), Angela (Gavin Sr.) Melito Jr., Michael (Sheena); 47 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and a long time friend, Mary Longale. She was predeceased by her parents, devoted husband, eight sisters, two brothers, two sons-in-law, one infant son, Jesse, one great-grandson, Michael Jr., and her best friend and sister-in-law, Patricia. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Luke's Intensive Care Unit for the compassion and care provided, especially nurses Janice and Patty and all her attending physicians. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. The family will remain until all visitors have been received. Laura's funeral service will commence on Thursday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Online tributes at: www.EannaceFuneralHome.com Laura M. Talerico
